The Glammo Mammo Suite!

November was a full of exciting things happening around the company, but probably the MOST exciting event was the opening of our beautiful Glammo Mammo Suite!

Our patients now have the luxury of having their mammograms at the same time as their annuals at the same location! We’re officially a one stop shop for all things women’s health! How exciting!! Our TWC patients can schedule their mammograms here as well!!

If someone that you know needs their mammogram done, have them give us a call today to schedule their appointment!

**Hey, Siri, play, “Glamorous” by Fergie!**

HooHoo Sister’s Night Out!

For the first time in the history of HooHoo Nights, we were finally able to plan two get togethers for our outlying clinics! Valdosta and Warner Robins were our first “off site” events and we’re so stoked to be able to pull this off for them!

The theme for these HooHoos was “Merry Thanks-Mas!” where we combined Thanksgiving and Christmas and had everything from Thanksgiving decor to Christmas music and bobbing for candy canes, painting reindeer and Thanksgiving and Christmas glasses to be silly and wear!

We always have such a great time celebrating , y’all, our employees and we love being able to show y’all how much we appreciate you guys!

Up next on the HooHoo Event List is a Christmas Extravaganza with our Covington crew on December 19th!!

Other outlying clinics, be on the look out for an email coming from Bekka about your upcoming HooHoo Nights! We can’t wait to celebrate all that you guys do!

Monthly Recipe!

Beef Burgundy

Ingredients:

8 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
1 (4- to 5-lb) boneless chuck roast, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
2 tsp. kosher salt, divided, plus more to taste
1 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper, divided
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 (750-mL) bottle red wine
1 (14.4-oz.) bag frozen pearl onions
1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme
1 bay leaf
4 peeled carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
3 c. beef broth
1 pound button mushrooms, stems trimmed
Mashed potatoes, to serve
Chopped fresh parsley, to serve (at least 2 tbsp)

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.

2. Place a large Dutch oven over medium heat and add the bacon. Cook until crisp, 5 to 7 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, remove the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, keeping the bacon drippings in the pot.

3. Pat the beef dry and season it with 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Increase the heat to medium-high and brown the beef, in batches, on all sides, 4 to 5 minutes per batch. Remove the meat to a plate set aside. If there is a lot of oil left, pour off all but 2 tablespoons, reserving the rest for the mushrooms.

4. Add the onion and celery to the pot, and cook until the vegetables are tender and golden, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, flour, garlic, the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Pour in the wine, whisking to combine, and bring to a boil. Add the pearl onions, thyme, bay leaf, and carrots. Return the beef and half of the bacon to the pot. Pour in enough broth to just cover the meat and bring to a simmer. Cover and place in the oven. Cook until the beef is tender, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

5. Meanwhile in a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of reserved cooking fat over medium heat. Add the mushrooms in one layer and cook, without moving, until golden, about 5 minutes. Flip them over and continue cooking until golden brown all over, 5 to 7 minutes more. Remove from the heat.

6. Skim off any excess fat from the top of the stew and stir in the sautéed mushrooms. Taste for salt. Serve the stew over mashed potatoes, topped with parsley and the remaining bacon.

November’s Employees of the Month and The Shining Star!

Ultrasound: Katelyn LambKatelyn has gone above and beyond this month in several different ways. I chose her to be our “Super User” for the Koning machine. This basically means she knows all the ins and outs of the machine and knows more in depth on how to solve a problem should an issue arise. She spent days with the Koning instructor learning this job duty. She has been helping me complete QC on the Koning machine most mornings as well. Katelyn also traveled to an outlying clinic this month for an entire week. Katelyn is the definition of a team player. Thank you for your dedication to The Howard Center. You are a blessing to us!
Front Desk: Emily ReddingEmily is no longer in the front office but she has stepped up and helped me when we needed it the most. She has traveled to outside offices and covered the front desk while learning a new position. She is looking for all the ways to go above and beyond for our patients in her new position. She is thinking outside the box, really making a difference in our patients’ lives and our practice. Thank you, Emily, for all you do for this practice.
Provider: Savannah Ross NPSavannah cares deeply about our patients and goes above and beyond to make sure they are well cared for. She continues to grow her knowledge base and is now also a certified lactation consultant! This has been such a blessing to our OB patients. She solves problems efficiently even during the most chaotic days and does it with a welcoming attitude that our patients love. She is also a wonderful colleague and makes it easy to come to work every day. Thank you Savannah!
Marketing: Laura StephensI would like to recognize Laura for an outstanding job well done. Laura has been marketing for our Warner Robins, Leesburg and Tifton locations for the past several months. Along with this she has also trained our newest team member for the Warner Robins location. She has opened doors to a new factory for the month of November. She is so selfless and the most amazing person. Laura had a week’s vacation booked and changed it to only taking two days off so she could ensure that the offices were able to help new patients. She has shown her dedication time and time again. She definitely loves to help change women’s lives. We are truly blessed to have Laura on our UOG Team!
TWC: Angela HowardShe is amazing at doing the jobs most people over look. Any day of the week you can catch her unpacking boxes, sweeping, cleaning up the procedure rooms. Thank you Angela for all of your hard work!
Surgery Coordinator: Emily ReddingI am picking Emily for employee of the month for Surgery Coordinator as she went above and beyond helping not only for Surgery Coordinator but also being a team player. She was pulled multiple times to cover for Front Desk in different locations several times for the month of November, she also is always asking “What can I do to help”? We are truly blessed to have her on our UOG team.
OB Department: Laura RentzThank you, Laura for all your hard work and dedication. This past month Laura has been a great example of teamwork, she’s always willing to jump in where she’s needed and always going above and beyond for our patients. Whether it’s sitting up front to help or even helping providers on things they could use help with. She is always willing to learn something new to help our office flow. You rock, Laura!!
Insurance: Alex TurnerThis month, Alex has gone above and beyond his normal duties to wash, dry, and fold the Mammogram robes every day. He willingly took on this task without being asked, and he has done an excellent job. I am proud of him for his dedication and initiative. Alex’s willingness to go the extra mile is what being employee of the month is all about. We are fortunate to have him as part of our insurance team, and he truly deserves this recognition.
HR: Taishi McLeodTaishi gets overlooked not being under any group of people. So I’d like to make her Employee of the Month for HR. She went above and beyond this past month. She helped out tremendously with the Christmas party!!!! She stayed late, and has assisted in various ways since Melisa’s been out. She’s always so professional with our new hires and she has takes so much of burden off of our managers by helping with interviews! She’s an outstanding member of this organization and we are very grateful for her! I know our entire HR department could not do it without her!
Nursing: Kelee SmithKelee is an amazing nurse! In the last month, she has volunteered to cover Lawrenceville for 2 days. She did an excellent job! She did it with a smile on her face! We are so lucky to have you!
Howard Diet: Kelly SmithKelly in Albany is my pick for the Howard Diet employee of the month! She always goes above and beyond to make sure our Diet patients are seen, taken care of and the charting is always to a T! Thank you Kelly for all of your hard work! I appreciate you!
WCAS: Jennifer DanielsJennifer really went above and beyond this month and I absolutely do not know how we would have made it through Thanksgiving week without her. She helped cover Covington that Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that we could do cases. She even volunteered to go back on Thanksgiving day when we had a last minute emergency and needed coverage for the next day!

Jessi White
Manager
$250.00 and a Trophy!!

Jessi has gone above and beyond this past month by getting her people trained for the new Koning and integrating the Mammogram department with the ultrasound department. This has not been an easy task, but she has stepped up and been a role model for all of us in Women’s Health. She has taken on a lot of extra chores and duties. I am very proud of her for stepping up and being a great leader on this new journey we taking on….mammograms.
